About

Hi! I’m Bianca and welcome to Embodied Self Therapy.

I am a certified trauma sensitive counsellor and somatic therapist. I provide individual therapy for people who have experienced childhood trauma, supporting them in moving past their triggers and processing unresolved emotional wounds, so that they can rediscover their self worth and live an empowered life.

My journey through life, navigating my own healing from childhood abuse and neglect, has landed me here. I know what it’s like to not have a voice, to feel disconnected and crippled with shame. I also know the richness of life beyond that and I am here to walk this road with you.

My journey

My professional journey began in 2014, when I began working in community services whilst completing my undergrad in psychology. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of providing individual and group therapy, skills training and social support to diverse populations (including mental health, drug and alcohol, disability, refugees, migrants and youth) in various settings both in Australia and Germany.

Working 1:1 with people for almost a decade has given me invaluable insights into the prevalence and far-reaching impacts of complex trauma. Inspired by this, my own healing journey and the growing research into how trauma is stored in the body, I pursued training in various somatic therapies and yoga to offer clients with trauma histories care that is sensitive and more suitable to their needs.

Today, Embodied Self Therapy offers online individual therapy to people around the world recovering from trauma, and collaborates with value-aligned partners to curate offerings that foster safety, community, education, and healing.

With a deep understanding of how trauma is uniquely experienced and the importance of creating a safe and empowering therapeutic space, I'm here to walk alongside you on your journey. Together, we'll navigate the path to integration, embodiment and transformation.

Values

  • Throughout the therapy process, safety is the main priority. Reestablishing safety within the body and in relationships is crucial for trauma healing, as trauma often causes us to dissociate and mistrust ourselves and others. Safety is also a prerequisite for healing, connection, intimacy and play, which are important to connect with in order to live a rich and full life.

  • I take a person-centered approach, meaning you are empowered to take the lead in your healing journey. Your preferences, needs and goals are central to the therapy process, and I am here to support and encourage you in making informed decisions that are most aligned for you.

  • We will lead with openness and curiosity, inviting new perspectives and possibilities to unfold. Curiosity nurtures our ability to adapt and remain flexible, expanding our awareness and deepening our understanding, whilst also creating a space for compassion, growth and transformation.

  • Turning “what’s wrong with you” to “what happened to you”. As trauma survivors, we have experienced enough shame. I take a strengths-based approach to reframe what is commonly referred to as maladaptive into creative and adaptive responses to trauma.

  • A commitment to dismantling oppressive systems and fostering true inclusivity. Recognising and challenging the lingering impacts of colonisation on our minds, bodies, and communities, while integrating Indigenous wisdom and practices. A space where all voices are heard, experiences are validated, and healing occurs free from colonial frameworks, supporting the liberation, safety, and empowerment of all.
