FAQs

  • You can find more information on pricing here.

  • A GP referral is not required to work with me. You can directly reach out and schedule your sessions here to begin your healing journey.

  • In Australia, counsellors are not currently covered by Medicare for sessions. Embodied Self Therapy is not a health insurance or NDIS provider at this time.

  • This really depends on your individual needs, however generally I suggest scheduling sessions weekly or fortnightly, especially in the beginning stages. Booking at least 6 sessions with me will allow you to see compounding results.

  • The first few sessions are all about us getting to know each other! In the initial phase of therapy, I will gather information to better understand you, your story and your context, so that we can start to form a roadmap for moving forward based on our individual needs and preferences.

  • It all depends on your preference. I believe that online therapy can add many benefits to your experience which you could not achieve or have access to with in person therapy. For example, you can start cultivating a sense of safety and supportive resources which are immediately implemented into your life, instead of being exclusive to the therapy room.

  • Embodied Self Therapy is currently based in Sydney, Australia and provides online services to people all around the world. All session times are offered in local Sydney time, so please be mindful of the time difference when you are booking your sessions.

  • You are more than welcome to explore my self-directed resources which can support you on your self-healing journey in the meantime. You can find them here. I also share practices and education on my social media platforms, which you can find links to here.

  • Not at all! Therapy is a safe and welcoming space for everyone, regardless of prior experience. I'll guide you through the process with compassion and understanding, ensuring you feel comfortable and supported throughout.

  • I specialise in supporting people in healing from childhood trauma, also known as complex trauma or C-PTSD. The effects of childhood trauma is insidious and can often go undetected, presenting in a variety of ways for different people. For example; anxiety, depression, addiction, burnout, relational issues, low self worth and many more.

  • Absolutely! While somatic therapy is effective for addressing trauma, it is also valuable for various other issues such as depression, anxiety, addictions, issues with self-worth and relationships, as well as overall personal growth. We can explore your unique needs and goals, working together to foster healing, self discovery and wellbeing.

  • Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that recognises the mind-body connection. It focuses on how the body holds and processes emotions, memories, and experiences. Read more about some of the modalities I draw from in my practice here.

  • Somatic therapy takes a “bottom-up“ approach, whereas standard talk therapy is “top-down“. This means that somatics target the body, recognising that the body holds onto trauma in ways that may be outside of our conscious awareness and that these processes determine how we cognitively relate to ourselves, others and the world around us. “Top-down“ approaches, on the other hand, are more cognitive based. They focus on the way that we think, are more analytic and help to draw out meaning.
